Review: Rooster & Rice

One of my go-to comfort foods is Khao Man Gai, which is the Thai version of Hainanese Chicken. And lately, it seems like this dish has been popping up everywhere, from food trucks to food stands to restaurants. At the most basic level, this dish is just chicken with rice, but the Thai version of this has a unique flair with delicious flavor.

The best place in San Francisco for Khao Man Gai has to be Rooster & Rice, a small shop tucked away in the Marina district that specializes in the dish. The menu here is simple and clean, and you honestly can’t go wrong with any of their choices! The Original is the most popular as well as the most classic (it even comes with a side of chicken broth!). I highly recommend trying it, along with an extra side of the sauce.

Review: 20th Century Cafe

In the past, I’ve found that brunch in San Francisco can be a hit or a miss, because some of the best places don’t take reservations and can have 1+ hour waits. However, a co-worker recently recommended his favorite cafe in San Francisco, so I decided to check it out last weekend for brunch.

20th Century Cafe is a European-inspired cafe located in Hayes Valley. Though the food here tends to be on the pricier side, it is well worth it given the quality of the food. And the best part? – no lines! (at least when we went). We just ordered at the counter, sat down, and waited for our food to be delivered to us.
